FAQ's
What timber is used to make Chimera7 products?
Primarily we use white plantation pine, some products in development are also going to be using Balsa and high grade plywood.
Is the timber from sustainable sources?
Yes, our timber suppliers prove or show us their timbers origin and/or certification prior to us buying it. Currently using,
- Plantation pine (Car track and puzzles).
-Balsa (Historical aircraft).
-Plywood (Historical aircraft, buildings and bridges).
Are there any paints or chemicals used when colouring any of the parts?
All colouring is done with either wood burning or adding food colouring to the timber. So absolutely no chemicals or weird stuff.
Will the railway crossing suit my existing timber train set?
There are a few timber train sets out there, so the best way is to give you the sizes...
Currently suiting train track that is,
Width-41mm (1-5/8')
Heigth-12mm (1/2')
Track width center to center-25mm (1 inch)
This suits the 'Thomas and Friends' timber railway sets and a few other generic sets we have tested, but if you have something different, let us know.
Please note that our railway crossing is to suit train wheels that are 25mm (1 inch) wide.
What type of cars and vehicles suit the wooden roads?
For the most part we have designed these roads for 1:64 scale vehicles which is your standard Matchbox and Hotwheels cars. The railway crossings will suit your Thomas and Friends timber railway and similar.
Are there any buildings and bridges coming for the wooden road sets?
In short, yes. We have currently prototyped a Petrol station, Railway station, Airport, Boat ramp with trailer parking and a light house, Mechanical workshop, Monster truck arena, and a Zoo frontage area. Also we are currently designing a few bridges which should release early in 2025. Race circuits are also coming with street circuits, full track circuits, Start/Finish lines, pit lanes, hairpin turns etc... Currently the first planned release will be the Melbourne F1 circuit, Alburt Park.
Is there variation in the parts of the timber road?
There is, timber being a natural material, every single thing we make will have some degree of variation. Some of these variations are,
-Colour of the wood.
-The grain or texture of the wood.
-The finish (fine timber fibers, final sanding and the effect of burning).
-Minor variation in the machining finish due individual machining and loading by hand.
Every single part is individually loaded, machined, sanded, re-machined, re-sanded and either burnt or coloured by hand. However all parts are made to within set tolerances to make sure all parts are enjoyable to use.
